Opening and Closing Plenaries lineups are out !

POLIS Network, Urbanism Next Center at the University of Oregon, New Urban Mobility Alliance - NUMO and TNO are stoked to announce our fabulous Opening and Closing Plenaries.

Both moderated by POLIS' Secretary General Karen Vancluysen, they will feature an array of experienced and engaging Urban Thinkers.

Opening Plenary

The Opening Plenary will feature:

We - POLIS Network, the Urbanism Next Center at The University of Oregon, the New Mobility Alliance and TNO - are excited to announce that we have rescheduled Urbanism Next Europe to June 9, 10 and 11, 2021. The event will be hosted online.

We will collaborate - you guessed it - with the buzzing city of Rotterdam, Netherlands!

Save the dates and get ready for one of the most memorable events of 2021, because now you know #WhatsNext: #UNextEU21

Moving ahead, to Spring 2021

After careful consideration, we have decided to postpone our Conference to Spring 2021.

The new date is under evaluation, and will be announced soon. The location, however, will be the same – exciting Rotterdam!

This decision was made necessary by our concern for the safety of all participants and the restrictions on events and travel implemented because of the health crisis.

The response to the Call for Speakers has been extremely positive and we have received promising feedback from relevant stakeholders and key sponsors. For these reasons, we want to make sure Urbanism Next Europe will happen in full force, and for it to become a memorable event.

We will be working with our Steering Committee and will soon share more information about our plans to keep the momentum going.

We remain at your disposal to provide any information you may need.

PROGRAM COMMITTEE GOES ON!

The Call for Sessions & Speakers for Urbanism Next Europe was incredibly successful – scroll down to "COVID-19: IMPORTANT INFORMATION" and you will read and see that our Program Committee has received almost 140 European and international high-level proposals addressing a wide array of topics, from cargo bikes to drone deliveries.

Connecting from different time zones, our Committee has started the impressive screening workload and went onto selecting the sessions for #UNextEU.

A decision has been made and submitted to the Steering Committee: now it is its turn to give our great program a virtual nod.

COVID-19: IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The Call for Sessions & Speakers for Urbanism Next Europe 2020 went beyond our best expectations! Indeed, our Team has received almost 140 high-quality proposals from leading researchers, practitioners, public decision-makers and private investors and entrepreneurs. The good news is, there clearly is an interest in this framework.

The bad news is… lots of work and tough choices ahead for the Program Committee!

As of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are monitoring the situation closely. We are still more than three months away from the Conference, and hopefully things will improve by June 2020. In the meantime, preparations are advancing as planned, and whatever decision will be made, it will be made responsibly. So, fingers crossed (and well washed)!

Many of you have sent us great proposals, and now the time has come for us to draft a programme that will feature all of your presentations with Q/As, panel discussions, Pecha Kuchas and 'Brain-squeezing' sessions.

Big changes are coming in Urban Mobility and Urban Development.

They’re coming fast, and will have profound impacts on land use, and real estate, public space, and building design, and on all transport modes.

How can we make sure these innovations actually make our cities better? To go from a reactive to a proactive approach, we need to engage political decision makers, planning and design professionals, real estate developers and the urban logistics sector, researchers and entrepreneurs, mobility service providers and corporate mobility planners, and many more.

Urbanism Next Europe will bring them together to discuss #WhatsNext for Urban Mobility and Development.

The sessions at Urbanism Next Europe will feature in-depth presentations exploring how technological, societal and economic mobility trends will change land use, urban design, transport, real estate, environment, equity,  health, economy and governance. Each session will aim for a mix of formats, from traditional ones (presentations with Q/As and panel discussions) to more unconventional ones (Pecha Kucha and 'Brain-squeezing' sessions).
